This tour is designed for those who come to Venice for the first time and would like to get the most information in a short amount of time. It presents the most important features of Venice from the past to the present highlighting the main monuments.

The walk starts at the foot of the Lion’s Column, near the water in front of St. Mark’s Square, the heart of the city and historically the centre of its political, social and religious life. We will admire the magnificence of its buildings and talk about the origin of Venice, the glory of its past and the concerns of the present. Then we will head to the Rialto market. As soon as we leave the Square Venice turns into a maze of shaded alleys, noisy and crowded or silent and deserted. We pass over the Rialto bridge and reach the market area, former headquarters of the economic and financial life of the Republic and, today, the main and most authentic local market place. Here ends our visit.
